Abstract

Tuberkulosis (TB) merupakan penyebab utama morbiditas dan mortalitas di Afrika Selatan. Parameter klinis merupakan hasil objektif yang penting pada TB; namun mereka sering tidak berkorelasi langsung dengan kesejahteraan subjektif pasien, tetapi dapat dinilai menggunakan ukuran hasil yang dilaporkan pasien (patient-reported outcome (PRO). Kualitas hidup terkait kesehatan (HRQOL) adalah PRO spesifik yang umumnya bersifat multi-dimensi dan mencakup domain kesehatan fisik, mental, dan sosial. Dimasukkannya PRO HRQOL dalam uji coba dan praktik klinis dapat memberikan informasi tambahan di luar parameter klinis dan mikrobiologis. Selanjutnya, HRQOL dapat dikaitkan dengan kepatuhan pengobatan. Ulasan ini berfokus pada HRQOL yang dilaporkan pasien dan hubungannya dengan kepatuhan pengobatan pada pasien TB di Afrika Selatan.
